Each forum account holds assorted information about you in a "profile".

Your profile information is not visible to search engines or the general public - only other people with a confirmed forum account - THCC members and a few club "friends".

Your profile always includes your full name, club membership number and which forum groups you belong to. Most people will be in the "THCCmembers" group, but some will also be in "THCCofficials".

The profile includes your e-mail address. When you first sign on to the system, it needs to send a message to this address to confirm your new account. After that, this address is used to send you a message when a new message is posted to any forum to which you have subscribed. Please make sure that you record your new e-mail address if it changes. Your e-mail address is not directly visible to other people, but they may still send you a message. There are two ways:

  1. A "private message" (PM). This is internal to the forum and the reply is also internal to the forum.
    • You may ask the system to alert you via e-mail when you have been sent a private message.
  2. An e-mail message. This is sent by the system without others needing to know your e-mail address.
    • Since this is an e-mail, the reply will go back to the other person's e-mail address.

Your profile can also have extra information. Some of this will probably not be of interest to us: ICQ number, AOL/MSN/Yahoo/Jabber addresses. Other information will be more useful to us: identifying photograph (known as an avatar), your phone number, home location, current BCU star awards, first aid certificates and coaching qualifications.

  • Showing your qualifications and mobile phone number will help when people are organising trips.
  • Adding a suitable photo will help people who are new to the club.

The top of each forum page shows a menu which includes a link to edit your own profile.
