In May 2012 we took four open boats and seven sea kayaks to the Waveney River Centre. On the Saturday we shuttled up to RowanCraft and padded back to the camp site, and on the Sunday we paddled along Oulton Cut to Oulton Broad and back, exploring along the way

I really enjoyed the whole trip especially the chance to practice in an open boat a bit more - I feel way more confident now than I did at the start of the trip. The broads were lovely and especially on the Saturday it felt really peaceful gliding along. My favorite bits were getting to sail the open boat on the Sunday, it was nice to get the feeling of picking up speed and also going down the little back water, there was no way we could of steered the boat through that 24 hours before.

I loved sailing. Great fun. Can't think of anything I would've wanted more or less off.

Camping for the first time in years, not knowing how to put up these modern tent... a nice break to the rainy weather... not happy that I couldn’t roll the sea kayak... rescuing a lonely abandoned brush... learning the cheapest way to unlock my boot... what a “healthy” dead swan looks like... how to balance power with steering in an open boat...

I had a fabulous time!
