When planning trip and hiring vans, it is worth knowing how big is a van.

On the trip to Wales in August 2008, we managed to fit into a VW long wheelbase hitop a total of 18 kayaks (in 3 layers of 5 standard boats, plus 3 playboats layed across the width by the doors), all sorts of equipment including more than 18 paddles, several bags of helmets and boyancy aids, a couple of tents and assorted safety gear.
