I'm keen to plan two sea kayak trips this autumn - one to repeat the Thames Triangle that Tony, Sean and I did last month and the other to play and train in the Peveril Point tide race at Swanage.
The Thames trip is a good day trip with scope to learn or practice navigation of 4-5-star level. It's about 14NM.
The Swanage trip could be part of a 2 or 3 day weekend in Dorset. It would be suited to bold 3-stars (aiming for 4-star level) who want to experience rougher water/surfing and to 4-stars (old & new) who want to practice rescues and skills. We would organise safety cover with water and shore based vhf, binoculars and a team of 'catchers'.
Anyone seriously interested should put their names down.
Please start two separate threads, one for each.
I'm away in [wikipedia:Cornwall] until 31 Aug and will look at dates when I return.
I'd suggest that spring tides are best for both venues but that Swanage will be more dependant on sea & weather conditions.
