The key advantages of marine versus wind is that the supply is predictable, and that there is up to 15GW of energy available. The first tidal energy farm is planned of the coast of Anglessey in a fast flowing patch of 25 m deep open sea known as the Skerries, which I would guess will be familiar to some of our more experienced Sea Kayakers.
